I commend you citizens of Lakeport for spending your hard earned tax dollar to make the corner of Lakeport Boulevard and Bevins Street so beautiful while still having to navigate the many pothole riddled residential streets such as those like 3rd and 4th street between High street and Crawford Street; I am sure the residents residing on those streets really see the value in such investments as this. I know as a visitor to your city it makes my shopping experience to your downtown businesses far more palatable on those 2 or 3 times a year I am forced to utilize those businesses located on that over crowded street known as Lakeport Boulevard between Main Street and Parallel Dr. I also know as a visitor to your City I do my very best to avoid that mess that has occurred at Parallel Dr. and Todd Road whenever possible; as I do not wish to add to your anguish. And I likewise do not come into your city other than to check my mail and buy a few groceries on more than a weekly basis because to do so only adds to your problem.

Too bad your elected officials have not shown wisdom and seen the necessity to widen the three streets in your city that really need to be addressed; Lakeport Boulevard and 11th Street as does High Street between 11th Street and 20th Street. I am sure you residents of Lakeport resent the impact that we the residents of the county have afflicted upon your quality of life by the traffic that we the County residents bring to your City; but it is your elected officials that have not made the developer address the traffic problems you are now being forced to endure because of those of us who do not reside within your city.

As for those businesses within the City of Lakeport; I say to you; if I can buy it on line I do. Shopping and dinning out is as much about the experience as it is about the end result. As a consumer I will not fight traffic nor will I search out parking no matter how pleasant an encounter you the business owner may feel I may have upon encountering your business. So Mr. Riveras might consider himself quite lucky to have maybe not gotten too entangled within this mess given all the empty retail space already available within the city limits of Lakeport. But who knows some governmental agency or governmental grant funded businesses may come along and look to rent this space. As for the small shop owners; well from what I hear they are already finding it ever harder to pay the rents that they are being faced with today; given the circumstances that they having to endure such as; on line competition, tighter credit markets, weaker dollar, and big box stores. - get smart
