Additionally, the personnal attacks disgust me to no end. This is a decision put to the voters. I happen to have many years of experience in the fire service, and my position on this measure would surprise some, however, one must remember that the first responsibility of fire service folks is the prevention of unwanted fires. That doesn't exactly equal forty years, but what difference does it really make? The FACT is that if people donated money directly to the youth groups, you'd really BE supporting the youth groups. They wouldn't be giving half the money to a fireworks company! No wonder they're putting so much money into overturning an ordinance that helps protect the community. She had the right to vote for the current City Council. That City Council is charged with running the city. If they didn't decide city issues "on their own" and instead put every issue the city faced on the ballot, we wouldn't need a City Council.
