Christmas lessons and carols will be celebrated at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sunday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m.

The public is invited to join the congregation at the historic church located at 1190 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.

Rev. Cannon Stephen Brannon of Sonoma will be the celebrant and preacher. Fellowship and refreshments in the Parish Hall follow the service.

Christmas Eve candlelight service this year will be at 8 p.m. Windsor resident Bishop George Hunt, retired Episcopal Bishop of Rhode Island, will officiate.

Evening prayer is celebrated every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Healing services are offered the first Sunday of each month.

Consecrated in 1899, the church is a memorial for five-year-old John Pierre Collier, son of Captain William and Mary Blackwood Collier. Young John Pierre perished in a fire at Clear Lake in 1896.

The church is known throughout the community for its food closet and thrift store outreach. Food donations for the food closet and thrift shop volunteers are always needed to sustain these valuable community services. Please call 263-4785 for more information.
