The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering America's Boating Course, a class on boating safety, on Saturday, Sept. 29. The class will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the sheriff's training room on the Lake County Jail campus at 4913 Helbush St., off Hill Road in Lakeport. Bag lunches are recommended. Families are encouraged to attend. Topics include: legal requirements of boating, operating your boat or personal watercraft, knowing your boat before getting under way, navigating the waterways and boating emergencies – what to do.
