The Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild will meet on Saturday, Sept. 1 in the Scotts Valley Women’s Clubhouse at 2298 Hendricks Road, Lakeport.

The doors open at 9 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. Come early to browse the quilt library, sign up for special events and socialize.

Laura Fogg, a Mendocino County quilter, will share her approach to quilt design through her elegant landscape collages.

Quoting from her American Quilter Fall 2005 article, Fogg said, “Fabric collage landscapes are fun,” “They’re both beginner-friendly and challenging for the experienced artist. It [fabric] lends itself to a free-wheeling, raw-edged collage technique that allows me to layer pieces upon other pieces with ever increasing detail.”

She is a member of the Mendocino Quilt Artists Guild, who will be the featured artists at the upcoming Falling Leaves Quilt Show.

The sixth annual Falling Leaves Quilt Show will take place Oct. 6-7 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., in Lakeport. Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

LLQG welcomes all quilters and prospective quilters to its meetings and events. Through a variety of programs and projects, the quilt guild members learn new skills and techniques, benefit the Lake County community, and enjoy themselves immensely.

Location: Scotts Valley Women’s Clubhouse at 2298 Hendricks Road, Lakeport.
