Triathlon One O One organizers will hold a community meeting at 6 p.m. on March 7, 2007, in the Lake County Courthouse, Board of Supervisors Chambers, 255 N. Forbes Street, Lakeport.

The meeting is open to the public and will provide an opportunity to find out details about Triathlon One O One Clear Lake, which will be held in and around Lakeport and Kelseyville on Sunday, June 10, 2007. In addition, representatives from local community-based organizations also are encouraged to attend the meeting in order to find out about the numerous volunteer opportunities and the potential for fundraising associated with this event.

A new international triathlon series, Triathlon One O One is set to launch in 2007 with four destinations: Florida in May, California (Lakeport) in June, Nova Scotia in September, and Texas in November with the Triathlon One O One World Championship. This event offers a new distance for triathlon racing with a 1.86 mile (3 km) swim, an 80.6 mile (130 km) bike, and an 18.6 mile (30 km) run - a total distance of 101.06 miles.

Triathlon One O One Clear Lake is expected to attract hundreds of participants - from amateur athletes to professional athletes and even former Olympians - during this its inaugural year with potential growth in attendance to more than one thousand participants in coming years as the event gains industry recognition. Triathlon participants are expected to begin to arrive in the middle of the week prior to the race.
