The Lake County Democratic Club meets Saturday June 14 at noon at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center in Lucerne.

The Senior Center is located at 3985 Country Club Drive (corner of 10th & Country Club) in Lucerne.

The Lake County Democratic Club will host a public meeting to discuss the looming healthcare Train Wreck facing this country and the issue’s impact on the 2008 election.

The meeting will convene at 1:30* * pm on Saturday June 14 at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center in Lucerne.

Clearlake City Councilwoman Joyce Overton will moderate the meeting.

This will be a multimedia presentation with time for Q & A.

47 million people are currently uninsured, with millions more underinsured or in danger of cancellation by their insurance companies. Employers are forced to cut back on the

help they provide their employees for healthcare and doctors are forced to expend countless hours and dollars processing insurance forms. Gray Panthers has been involved for over 30 years in studying healthcare issues and participating in the struggle to implement solutions to this nightmare situation.

Margie Metzler, Program Coordinator of the Medicare Part D Project for the California Gray Panthers (www.gpcal.org ), will present information on the history of healthcare in America, what’s gone wrong, possible solutions, and how to talk to others about the situation in a way that they can process.

Gray Panthers, which was founded by Maggie Kuhn in 1970, has chapters throughout the country and is the most diverse and active organization in the world on behalf of older people.
