At the next meeting of the Sierra Club Lake Group Community Development Director Richard Coel will offer a crash course on the new Lake County General Plan, which after six years of effort is ready for formal consideration by the Planning Commissioner and Board of Supervisors. Every county and city in California is required to devise, adopt, and regularly update its own unique Plan, which functions as its Constitution on growth and development questions. Lake County’s new Plan incorporates many changes ranging from new Community Growth Boundaries to comprehensive trail policies to impacts to global climate—all matters of great moment to everyone in our community. At this meeting Mr. Coel will describe the adoption process, including a series of state-mandated hearings when members of the public will have an opportunity to make on-the-record comments, and also learn about the more important substantive features of the plan itself—what's new, and what it means for everyone who lives, works, and visits here. The meeting is free, and open to the public. |
