| Rachel Binah an elected Democratic National Committeewoman will discuss her experiences as a Democratic Party activist, as well as her role and responsibilities as a superdelegate in the presidential nominating process at the Lake County Democratic Club's next meeting. The club meets at noon on Saturday, May 10, at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, 3985 Country Club Drive. Binah is one of the DNC's 796 Democratic superdelegates, 66 of whom come from California. She lives on the coast of Mendocino County. Formerly the owner of a bed & breakfast inn, Binah began her political involvement with the Democratic Party when she helped lead her community's effort to protect the coast from offshore oil development. She is in her fourth term as a DNC member and has been a delegate to each Democratic National Convention since 1988. Binah also has served on the State and County Central Committees since the early 1980s and was a founding member of the Mendocino Coast Democratic Club. Her resume also includes having chaired the California Democratic Party's Environmental Caucus and service as Environmental Plank Chair of the Platform Committee. Binah currently serves on the California Democratic Party's Resolutions Committee. The senior center serves breakfast from 9 a.m. until noon. The public is invited. Membership in the Lake County Democratic Club is open to registered members of the Democratic Party. |
