Soroptimist International of Clearlake will host a Spring Fling on March 1 at Robinson Rancheria. Doors open at 11 a.m. There will be a no-host bar, with lunch and the program starting at 12:30 p.m. along with the silent auction with many wonderful items. The program will feature Rebecca Kimbel, who has made television and radio appearances, speaking about her experience being born and raised in a polygamous family, from which she eventually escaped. The group also will give out its awards, which will be presented to three deserving women to help them go back to school and improve their lives. A teen girl who does outstanding volunteer work in her community and a women who has dedicated her life to helping women in Lake County also will be honored. Tickets for the Spring Fling cost $35 each. The local Soroptimist chapter works with the TLC House and New Beginnings, providing help to the homeless shelter. Soroptimist is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world, according to the group's Web site. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. |
