Lake County Poet Laureate applicants have been invited to read at the Poetry and Music Interlude on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Main Street Gallery in Lakeport.

As always, the Poetry and Music Interlude is free and open to the public.

Currently, outgoing Poet Laureate Sandra Wade is spearheading the selection process for her successor.

As Poet Laureate, Sandra has been called on many times to read at gatherings both in Lake County and abroad so she is well aware of how important it is for a laureate to interact well with audiences.

The selection committee decided the Poetry and Music Interlude would provide an excellent opportunity for the applicants to perform in a community setting.

The hopefuls are Linda Drew, Tom Hardy, Pauline Denise Keil-Stocker and Mary McMillan.

All performers will be held to the rules of the house and will keep their reading to roughly under six minutes.

As usual, the interlude will dredge up a generous helping of poetry and a scattering of acoustic music. Light refreshments will be provided.

Location: Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St., Lakeport.
