The Middletown Community United Methodist Church has undergone changes since last July with the transfer of long-term Pastor Cindy Eucalyptus to Arcata in Humboldt County.

Pastor John Song replaced Eucalyptus and served in Middletown for three months before his transfer to the United Methodist Church in San Jose.

These events have opened the door for our church to experience the richness of local talents while we await the assignment of a new pastor.

Hidden Valley resident, Peggy Thompson will lead the 10 a.m. worship services on Sunday, Jan. 27. The service celebrates "100 years of Prayer for Christian Unity."

Members of the Christian Motorcycle Association, St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and members of the Lutheran Church will join members of the Lower Lake Methodist Church in addition to special music by Bill Fredriksson.

Thompson was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1987. Before retiring and moving to Lake County in 2004, Deacon Thompson served as a correctional chaplain, where most of her work was done in an ecumenical setting. She presently serves as deacon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Calistoga as well as leading retreats and labyrinth workshops in Lake and Napa counties.
