UPPER LAKE, Calif. – The second in a series of coffees with District 3 Supervisor Jim Steele is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Vintage Station Deli, 9450 Main St. in Upper Lake.
Coffee and conversation begins at 10 a.m.
“In a district that stretches from Walker Ridge on the East to Blue Lakes on the West and Lake Pillsbury on the North, it’s tough getting to all the communities on a regular basis,” said Steele. “Town halls are a good medium but meeting in small groups over coffee is another way to reach citizens who want to stay posted on activities and have a way to express their concerns in person.”
One of the important discussions coming up is the formation of a county advisory council for the Nice, Upper Lake, Blue Lakes and surrounding areas. This will be the last of three councils to be formed in District 3.
The councils work with the supervisor as advisors to the Board of Supervisors and provide a way for communities to engage with local government on a formal basis to help solve critical issues.
Already operational is the East Region Town Hall, known as ERTH. The council will hold its third meeting on Feb. 1.
The second advisory council in Lucerne is established and named Middle Region Town Hall, or MRTH. Council member applications for MRTH are being accepted now and can be found on the county’s Web site at http://www.co.lake.ca.us/ .
Anyone in the Upper Lake, Nice, Blue Lakes or surrounding areas who is interested in being appointed as a Council member to the West Region Town Hall, or WRTH, is encouraged to attend the Saturday coffee. Applications will be available at the meeting.
The coffees at the Vintage Station Deli in Upper Lake will continue every Saturday morning for as long as there is interest.
In addition to the advisory councils, updates on the Senior Summit and Silver Foundation will be made as well as other county activities.
Supervisor Steele also will field questions and provide the coffee.
