LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Board of Supervisors will hold a special Tuesday evening meeting to look at a proposed new cannabis ordinance and consider a local emergency declaration by the sheriff regarding last week's storms.
The board will meet beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the board chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
The meeting can be watched live on Channel 8 and online at http://www.co.lake.ca.us/Government/Boards/Board_of_Supervisors/calendar.htm . Accompanying board documents, the agenda and archived board meeting videos also are available at that link.
Timed for the beginning of the meeting is a workshop to review and discuss the draft cannabis ordinance.
Community Development Director Bob Massarelli's report to the board explains that the Lake County Planning Commission held a series of workshops during the last half of 2016 regarding the development of the cannabis industry.
“As directed by the Board, this conceptual draft provides for a well regulated cannabis industry that protects the public health, safety and welfare. The purpose of this workshop is for the Board to provide direction to the staff in the further development of the ordinance,” Massarelli said.
The reports for the discussion can be found at http://www.co.lake.ca.us/Government/Boards/Board_of_Supervisors/calendar.htm .
In an untimed item, the board will consider a resolution confirming the existence of a local emergency due to last week's heavy rainstorms and flooding.
On Friday, Sheriff Brian Martin declared the emergency for the storms which began on Jan. 6, as Lake County News has reported.
